PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE OF DATES!

What is it?In Community Adventure you will learn the skills you need to sail, kayak, rock climb, orienteer, and camp on your own, without the help of our staff. In addition, you will learn how to create positive social change in your community. You will learn how to identify a problem you are passionate about changing and will then learn the many ways in which you can make that change happen. This program is for participants entering 10th or 11th grades. This program ends with a three-night rock climbing and kayaking camping trip.

When does it take place?During the summer of 2006 there will be one, one-month session from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, Mon.-Fri.

Who participates?Teenagers participate from all over the city of Chicago.

Where does it take place? While Broadtree staff picks provides transportation our programs take place everywhere. We kayak on the Skokie Lagoon, sail on Lake Michigan, bike along the north branch trail, rock climb at Vertical Endeavors climbing gym, backpack in parks in northern Michigan and Wisconsin, and much more.

Can I get Chicago Public School service learning credit?Yes you can. You will get service learning credit for the time spent on the social change component of the program.
